Abstract:
The quantitative assessment of agricultural and rural development policies requires consolidated, multi-sector databases, which take the economic heterogeneity between regions into account. Regionalized Social Accounting Matrices represent a suitable and convenient data format for such a database, which, to our knowledge, does not yet exist for the 27 current EU Member States. To address this informational gap, the European Commissions IPTS launched the SAMNUTS2 project to obtain a complete and consistent set of regional Social Accounting Matrices. This report summarizes the achievements of the SAMNUTS2 project to construct such a database.
