An Analysis of Chinese Company Performance Using EVA

P.X. Wu and S. Zhang

No 606, Department of Economics - Working Papers Series from The University of Melbourne

Abstract: The recent meltdown in some Asian economies highlights the urgent need of more proper measures of economic performance. Measures such as GNP growth rates alone are not good enough in revealing the true strength of an economy unless costs of capitals are also examined. In recent years, there have been an increasing amount of research and practice on the use of EVA as a performance measure of economic entities.
