Are Private Sector Consumption Decisions Affected by Public Sector Consumption?

Abstract: This paper looks at the interaction between public and private consumption in Australia. The results show that there is substitution between private and public consumption in the long-run and that in the short-run, changes to government consumption secures a retourn to equilibrium following a shock.
