Typology of Regional Economic Integration Agreements

Abstract: The paper presents some insights from economic literature on the nature of regional economic integration, its types, stages and institutional framework. The author develops a typology to distinguish regional economic integration agreements and applies it to over 60 existing agreements to classify them into the respective stage of the integration process.
