Abstract:
In this paper we review the issue from both a theoretical and empirical perpective. We use a simple theoretical model to gauge the relevance of the non-linearities described above. Our empirical analysis relies on novel time series data on invoicing across several countries. We examine the extent to which invoicing choices are stable, and assess the likely reasons behind changes in the role of various currencies.
