Thoughts about the Diversity of Evaluations

Abstract: Evaluations of public programs are based on a number of different methodologies, and each exhibits great diversity of methods. All address the benefits of the programs and most compare benefits to costs, but the types of benefits and their measures vary greatly across the studies, especially for different types of public programs. This research collection illustrates the range of methods, providing discussion of different approaches and many examples of actual evaluations of public programs across several different public policy settings.
