Reforming Process and Consolidation in the Soviet Economy

Andrei Vernikov

No wp-1989-053, WIDER Working Paper Series from World Institute for Development Economic Research (UNU-WIDER)

Abstract: One of the main reasons for launching a radical economic reform in the USSR is that the previous system of rigid administrative management failed to become efficient and to react adequately to internal and external developments. Disproportions and imbalances were a general phenomenon at both macro- and micro-levels.
