An energy New Keynesian DSGE model for South Africa

Abdul Cassiem and Guangling Liu

No wp-2026-65, WIDER Working Paper Series from World Institute for Development Economic Research (UNU-WIDER)

Abstract: This paper develops an energy New Keynesian dynamic stochastic general equilibrium model to study the impact of climate change on the South African economy. The model incorporates an energy producer within a standard sticky-price framework and links environmental damages to macroeconomic outcomes. The paper offers a platform for evaluating environmental policies in an energy-reliant, price-regulated setting.
