Geoff Woolford

No 49174, Social Protection Discussion Papers and Notes from The World Bank

Abstract: This report studies the social protection for migrants from the Pacific Islands in their host countries of Australia and New Zealand. The report focuses on the access for migrants to social services in the host countries and provisions for the portability of entitlements, particularly superannuation and health benefits, between host and home countries. It describes the current legal provisions for access to social services, portability of entitlements, and implementation of these provisions in the relevant countries, analyzes shortcomings, and draws policy conclusions.
