Public Trust in Government and Compliance with Policy during COVID-19 Pandemic: Empirical Evidence from Vietnam

Abstract: Abstract This study explores how much the Vietnamese public trust their government during the COVID-19 pandemic and how public trust in government translates into support and compliance with government’s policy and regulation. The findings of the study show that there is a significant positive correlation between accessible, trustworthy communication and public trust in government. The findings also demonstrate a significantly moderate positive correlation between public trust in government and policy compliance. The more the public trust the government, the more likely they comply with government’s policy during the COVID-19 pandemic.
