Abstract: This study investigates the relationship between technical characteristics of decision support and information system project and users' behaviors. The objective is to present a conceptual model of Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) that was constructed starting from the literature, the technological tendencies and the case studies, which identifie system characteristics for proactive users' behaviors, in recovery information. Among the main results, we can stand out the definition of categories related with the systems characteristics - flexibility, integration and presentation - and the definition of categories related with the users' behaviors in the information recovery - scanning and focus search - as well as the presentation of a conceptual model for EIS systems. We can also stand out the exploration of a new technique for qualitative methods, called Case Modeling, developed with the objective of looking for a larger exploration of the context in the phase of data analysis.
