Memoirs as a Source of Studying the Battle of Leningrad

Abstract:
The analysis of memoirs (memoirs) of participants of battle of Leningrad is presented in the article. Military leaders, such as Marshall of the Soviet Union G. K. Zhukov, Marshall of the Soviet Union A. M. Vasilevsky, Marshall of the Soviet Union K. A. Meretskov, Chief Marshal of artillery N. N. Voronov, General of the Army I. I. Fedyuninsky, Colonel General of artillery N. N. Zhdanov, General of the Army M. M. Popov, Lieutenant General B. V. Bychevsky, Admiral V. F. Tributs, Vice Admiral N. K. Smirnov, workers of the industry and municipal economy of Leningrad and area act as authors of memoirs. In memoirs public authorities and military management are considered, the effectiveness of their activity is estimated; the role of the personality in a control system is shown. As memoirs of defenders of Leningrad testify, the staff of Army and residents showed courage and heroism, unity of the front and back that finally and has ensured the Victory not only in fight for the city, but also in general in the Great Patriotic War of the multinational Soviet people.
