Abstract:
Origin and formation of the Institute of political parties are examined in the article. Distinctive features and main functions of political parties in modern political relations are analyzed. The author reviews different notions of political parties, given by leading scientists and politicians, examines a modern state and a role of parties in a political system, and points out basic difficulties that nowadays face political parties in some democratic states.
