Is the Theory of Competences Competent?

Abstract:
Today the theory of competences is extensively introduced into the practice of teaching, training and certification of qualified personnel . Many issues are published nowadays to provide well-grounded reasons of the validity and effectiveness of this theory application. However, on closer analysis, the theory suffers from many shortcomings, while the experience of its application in its current form shows its untenability.
