Abstract: In the present article, the author describes the system of economic foundations of cultural and sociopolitical history of the oldest Rus’ communities in Eastern Europe in mid- 8th - early 11th centuries. The system is reconstrusted as a group of seven subsystems - these are trade, fiscal, administrative, military, diplomatic, religious and mercenary-contractual ones.
