Vertical Integration in the Oil Industry

Abstract: The authors, from their different points of view, conclude generally that vertical integration is inherent in the nature of the oil industry, that it provides efficiencies that reduce both capital and transactions costs, and that divestiture is, in effect, a wrong solution to a pseudo-problem.
