Thoughts on the Development Planning of Pomelo Industry in Meizhou City

Abstract:
Pomelo industry is one of the mainstay industries with most unique regional characteristics in Meizhou City, South China. This paper analyzed the status, development advantages and problems of pomelo industry and discussed on brand-based industry transformation and updating in order to provide references for expanding and strengthening pomelo industry. Meizhou City is the second largest prefecture-level city of pomelo production in China, where the cultivating area is up to 40,000 ha and the yield is over 900,000 t. With the expansion of industry scale, there were bottlenecks of pomelo industry in Meizhou City including industrial restructuring and upgrading. The paper analyzed the development status and existing problems of pomelo industry based on investigation and survey. Some corresponding strategies were also proposed for pomelo industry in Meizhou City.
