Abstract:
The small and marginal land-holders dominate Indian agriculture. They depend on many on-farm and off-farm activities for livelihood. Despite multiple sources of farm income, many of farmers remain poor. The inadequacy of income and multiplicity of its sources has implications for the development of agriculture in the country. The Union government tried to address some of the farm-related problems with farm laws. The present paper discusses some of these issues.
