Institution and Financial Performance of PAC’s in Ahmednagar District

Abstract: The present study is an attempt to analyze the A Primary Agriculture Credit Society (PACS) is basic unit and smallest co-operative credit institution in India. The PACS work on the grass root level (village level) and sustain long in better conditions. The total number of PACS’s in Ahmednagar District is 1352 during the year 2018 and 173 PACS’s in Shrigonda taluka. Among all the co-operative societies or PACS’s in shrigondataluka of Ahmednagar District in kashti the Sahakar Maharishi Kashti Vividh Karyakari Seva Sahakari Society (SMKVKSSS) is engaged in multi activities. Currently the SMKVKSSS are not only functioning with providing agricultural credit but also provide consumer inputs or services to the peoples. The SMKVKSSS provided different services through ten different sections in which fertilizer section get average profit was Rs. 44.73 lakhs in study period under review, similarly machinery section (Rs. 15.32 lakhs), seed and pesticides section (Rs. 24.11 lakhs), cloth section (Rs. 24.11 lakhs), ready-made section (Rs. 31.75 lakhs), saree section (Rs. 17.88 lakhs), consumer stores section (Rs. 27.29 lakhs), home appliance section (Rs. 13.27 lakhs) medical section (Rs. 4.15 lakhs) and shoe mart section services get average profit was Rs. 3.73 lakhs in study period under review which 2009-10 to 2018-19. In tests of strength ratios the net worth was observed between Rs. 395.66 lakhs to Rs. 711.38 lakhs and net capital ratio was observed between 2.33 per cent to 5.81 per cent. In profitability ratios the net profit to total asset ratio was between 0.019 per cent to 0.089 per cent, net profit to net worth ratio was observed between 0.024 per cent to 0.153 per cent and net profit to fixed asset was observed between 0.098 per cent to 0.377 per cent. In efficiency ratios the gross ratio was between 0.674 percent to 0.914 percent, operating ratio was observed between 0.425 per cent to 0.571 per cent. The SMKVKSSS faced low recovery, high cost on management major problems in overall study period.
