A look at the small southern country: Uruguay

Abstract:
The work is devoted to Uruguay, a small country located in Latin America, between two large neighbors: Argentina and Brazil. The article presents selected socio-economic and historical information. Particular attention is paid to the agricultural sector and export specialization, which have long been important factors in the country's economic growth. Recently, services have begun to play a similar role. The second part of the article is entirely devoted to the current situation related to the COVID-19 pandemic, which began in March 2019. The article presents ways of dealing with the pandemic in the field of health and economy. The article ends with questions about the prospects for ending the pandemic and further economic development of the country.
