“Professional” agricultural producers talk about agriculture, their work and their farms
Sylwia Michalska
Village and Agriculture (Wieś i Rolnictwo), 2022, vol. 193, issue 4
Abstract:
The article is devoted to "professional agricultural producers", or "professional" farmers - those who make their living primarily from agriculture. Their description is based on research conducted in 2019. The group studied turned out to be younger, more masculinized and better educated than the general Polish farmers. Most respondents ran large or very large farms with specialized agricultural production. As many as 2/5 of the respondents assessed the situation of farmers in Poland negatively, blaming the situation on world markets for this state of affairs. Also worrying is the fact that more than half of them do not have a development plan for their farm, which calls into question their professionalism.
