Abstract:
The article is a collection of reflections related to a quarter of a century of implementing village renewal programs in Poland. It is an attempt to summarize the effects of implementing village renewal in the context of the compatibility of this idea with practical activities. According to the author, in the contemporary world full of various unexpected crises, village renewal projects, consisting mainly in raising the standard of living, are not sufficient for the development of rural areas. In her opinion, the ideas of smart villages and, above all, rural resilience should be widely implemented in development activities. Resilience and the ability not only to survive, but also to go through crises well, creatively seem to be necessary in global conditions.
