The battered wife syndrome and violence in the nuclear family of origin: a controlled pilot study

B. Parker and D.N. Schumacher

American Journal of Public Health, 1977, vol. 67, issue 8, 760-761

Abstract: These data suggest that up to 1,000 victims of ongoing severe wife-beating are seen by this legal aid center each year. The data also points to a vertical transmission within these families of this form of violence. This relationship is amenable to primary prevention and one which to date has been ignored.
