Abstract: As a result of rapid technological development and the introduction of digitalization, a fundamental change is taking place in the functioning and operation of the maritime industry. Digitalisation processes are placing new demands on human resources in the sector. As a result, a gap is emerging between the demand and supply of knowledge, skills and capabilities. In this context, the aim of this paper is to justify the new role, tasks and tools for forming a new educational environment of maritime education, according to the current processes of digitalization of maritime universities. The research proves that the digital process is not a set of technological solutions and software products, but planning, organizing, leading and controlling the educational progress in an innovation environment with the help of management tools – entrepreneurial sea hubs, active social interactions of the university and the sector with the environment and talent management of the organisation. In practical terms, these processes require the active intervention of entrepreneurship and innovation as a tool for efficiency, as well as a strong focus on soft and social skills to support the educational process.
