Abstract:
Stress is a critical factor in many psychological and social traumas out of which the psychological ones are diminishable through stress management. Emotional intelligence is a set of non-cognitive abilities and skills that increase the individual success capability in facing environmental stresses especially job stress. Therefore, this research is aimed at identifying the relationship between emotional intelligence and job stress controlling factors. This study is an applied descriptive survey, making use of data collection method, library research and fielded study. The statistical population of the study consists of the University of Yazd faculty members. Correlation test and regression analysis are employed to finalize the research goals as well as to test the hypotheses. The results of Pearson correlation test indicate a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and stress controlling factors. Besides, the results of stepwise regression analysis illustrated that social awareness and self-consciousness factors significantly influence stress controlling factors. In other words, the individuals enjoying social awareness and self-consciousness have more capability to control and manage the stress because when facing stressful circumstances, they analyze the situation and problems while keeping patient and well adapting themselves to the stressing conditions by means of previous experiences and keeping hopeful for a better situation. Meanwhile, it is to be noted that social awareness factor plays the best role in reducing the job stresses in a way that 45 percent of job stress changes could be explained by this factor.
