Abstract: This paper deals with the comparative evaluation of efficiency of nitrogen use in the production of agricultural products in the EU and Ukraine. The author has calculated overall balance and intensity of use of nitrogen at the country level. The author shows the current structure of the nitrogen cycle and a source of nitrogen losses in agriculture of Ukraine
