Abstract: In recent years research on knowledge production has seen an increase in the number of publications. In previous literature knowledge production as continuing education by universities has not been taken into account. The aim of the article is to fill the gap on basis of the following main question: how can continuing education be organized as a border between universities and companies so that collaborative knowledge work will be supported? From this point of view, continuing education is a “border place” between universities and companies with two different logics of action: first the logic of the scientific community and second the logic of decision making in companies. “Experienced reflection” could be a solution for overcoming such a dilemma. Examples of good practice illustrate the theoretical argumentation.
