Abstract:
In the recent years growing interest about the effects of leadership behaviour on employees’ health could be observed. This paper conducts three cross-sectional empirical studies (N = 877, N = 300, N = 570), which analyse the impact of leadership behaviour, job design, and employees’ characteristics on strain health consequences in the context of a work psychological model of analysis and interventions. The results reveal: good leadership is not solely responsible for healthiness. Psychological work-strain, medical conditions, absence and presente eism attribute to a strong interaction effect of leadership behaviour and job design on strain.
