Abstract:
Re-employment bonuses as vouchers are a new instrument in German labour market policy. Eligible older jobseekers receive a commitment for a hiring subsidy of up to 50 percent of their gross wage costs for 12 months when being employed. Compared to conventional hiring subsidies, vouchers are to be expected to yield specific effects. Take-up remained below expectations. One important reason is that stigmatization may occur, and that relevant actors - case managers in Public Employment Service, jobseekers, and Human Ressources Managers in firms - take this into account.
