Abstract: The digitization of labour is also a topic of social science labour research, and there are currently numerous, rather tentative moves being made in different directions. The claims being made so far about expected labour market effects, the structuring of work, and even the limits of digitization have, however, been oriented in contradictory ways and, in part, strongly focus on technical feasibility. Possibilities for changes in gender relations are broached rather marginally in discussions about digitization. The aim of this article is to link labour research questions on the topic of digitization to gender-related issues, making the connection clear by presenting a concrete example. We focus primarily on structural possibilities for influencing and shaping processes of digitization of labour with respect to gender-sensitive content. Additionally, we present a few further conceptual considerations regarding the relationship between labour and gender. We conclude our article by contributing new impulses for the current debate on the digitization of labour.
