Abstract: There is an ongoing reform process of day care centers in Germany which exerts a reorganization pressure upon these institutions. The paper analyzes in a single-case study the reorganization processes resulting from this pressure. Two questions are focused: Which effects on the everyday life and work in the day care center result? And how do the professionals negotiate the reorganization processes within their labor process? In this way, new insights into hitherto neglected aspects of the reform process of day care centers can be gained by differentiating the public image and the discussions of the changes in this area. Moreover, the paper suggests analyzing reorganization processes in social services as everyday negotiation processes.
