Abstract:
In the process of digital transformation questions on the role of the workers and their councils are crucial for the structuring of “work 4.0.” The possibilities and dangers that arise from the interlaced digital processes, and the ways how far-sighted, health-promoting and co-determined work structuring can be realized, depend, among other things, on the actions of the worker’s councils. In many companies, however, the stakeholders show high levels of uncertainties about the effects the new technologies might have on the work force and about the possibilities to shape co-determination between protection and structuring. Empirical results from twelve organizations show different approaches of dealing with the digital transformation, which are mapped out in a typology.
