Abstract:
The study aims to answer the question whether the institutional change and political attempt to professionalize care on the macro-level changed the occupational self–concept of nurses. A cross-generational mindset-analysis of 20 interviews of nurses with 3-year training qualification was conducted. The findings show that the hospital as organizational context reinforced traditional and vocational mindsets in nurses. Furthermore, the traditional mind–set was increasingly displaced by the jobholder mindset in the younger generation.
