Abstract:
Concepts and criteria of a learning-enhancing work design have been the subject of research and development in various disciplines since the 1970s. Today, work design has to promote learning and competencies and refers to an increasingly digitized work that dominates the development of work and working structures under the label “Industry 4.0”. In doing so, work-integrated learning is becoming a constituent part of digitized work. Workplaces and learning venues are being de-boundarized, at the same time work-designed learning spaces, learning architectures and forms of learning are expanding. With reference to this, existing dimensions and features of work design are updated as general criteria that serve both the analysis and the construction of learning and competence-enhancing work design.
