Statistical Linking with Automatch: Diagnosis of the SSEL 1996 to 1997 Full Linking Procedure

Javier Miranda

CES Technical Notes Series from Center for Economic Studies, U.S. Census Bureau

Abstract: We provide results from implementing the full linking algorithm on two full SSEL years, 1996 and 1997. First the numerical linking algorithm is implemented to identify PPN/CFN continuers, then the statistical linking algorithms are applied on the residual establishments (numerical births and deaths). Match rates are provided for both the baseline statistical algorithm developed by CJ Krizan and the improved version. Finally we present results from an analysis at the industry and geographical level.
