CES Technical Notes Series from Center for Economic Studies, U.S. Census Bureau
Abstract:
This project was conceived as an effort to understand how adoption of new communications technology changes the economic organization of firms and influences productivity using U.S. Census Bureau data on the U.S. private-for-hire industry (taxicabs and limousines; SIC 412100 and 411920 respectively). Also, because industry is characterized by a high degree of entry and exit, the project aimed to characterize the impact of the entry and exit process on firm organization and performance.
