CES Technical Notes Series from Center for Economic Studies, U.S. Census Bureau
Abstract:
This technical note describes the procedure for name and address matching between the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns Business Register (CBPBR) and the Pitchbook venture capital dataset. It involves multiple passes using both exact and fuzzy name matching. The number of matches at each step, as well as matching rates across several metrics, are documented. The Stata code is available to qualified research projects at the Census Bureau and the Federal Statistical Research Data Centers.
