Conflict
Dominic Rohner
No 12035, CESifo Working Paper Series from CESifo
Abstract:
This handbook chapter provides a synthesis of the literature on armed conflicts, with a special focus on development economics, while covering also other disciplines. The piece starts off with a discussion of the main consequences of conflict before investigating its root causes. First, a series of theoretical approaches and results will be reviewed, before presenting major datasets and methods. As a next step, a structured analysis of key empirical findings follows. The last part of the handbook chapter is devoted to a synthesis of crucial policy lessons.
