Abstract: The essay discusses oral history as an alternative method of scientific research, highlighting its relevance in recovering and valuing the knowledge of indigenous peoples. Oral history, considered both ancient and new, focuses on the transmission of knowledge from generation to generation, a fundamentally human process that has been underestimated in modern sciences. The author emphasizes the importance of this method in educational contexts, particularly in decolonization and the revaluation of indigenous knowledge. The interview, as a key tool, should be spontaneous and not guided, allowing interviewees to freely share their knowledge. This approach offers a valuable alternative for documenting knowledge that might otherwise be lost and suggests its inclusion in educational curricula to enrich teaching and preserve cultural heritage
