Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies in Angolan Higher Education: Student Perceptions of Academic Use, Benefits, and Challenges

Abstract:
Introduction: The focus of the study was on analyzing the benefits of artificial intelligence and digital technologies. To do this, it was taken into account to interview 153 students from the different Angolan universities and analyze their opinion focusing on the experience of the students rather than on numerical statistics. Through this study, it is possible to directly identify the sales and disadvantages that artificial intelligence offers us as a study tool. Methods: Focusing on a qualitative and cross-sectional research with a clear descriptive design, analyzing the background of the situation. The information collection technique was the structured interview and the instrument consisted of a guide of open questions, validated through expert judgment. The information was processed through thematic analysis, which allowed the responses to be organized into categories related to academic use, perceived benefits, ethical and academic challenges, institutional role, and student recommendations. Results: The findings in the research showed that the perception of students about the use of artificial intelligence and technologies was positive since it had an influence on the improvement of educational resources both for learning and interaction. However, they also identified limitations related to connectivity, unequal access to devices, lack of training, reliability of information, technological dependency, and risk of plagiarism. Conclusion: It is concluded that the integration of these tools in Angolan higher education requires pedagogical guidance, ethical training, teaching accompaniment and institutional policies that promote responsible, critical and contextualized use.
