Application of the FMEA during the product development process - dependencies between level of information and quality of result

Abstract: The FMEA is a method to analyse failures and their risks to the customer. If it is used as early as possible during the product development process, the usable level of information is very low. The level of information grows and is understood as all available information according to an instant in time. In order to analyse dependencies between level of information and quality of result, the FMEA input and output is systematized and measured with the help of product and process models as well as an Information Quality Framework. It can be used to estimate the ideal time to perform a FMEA.
