Zahl privater Zusatzkrankenversicherungen hat sich verdoppelt

Abstract: According to information from the Socio-Economic Panel Study (SOEP), the proportion of people with statutory health insurance who have taken out private supplementary health insurance has more than doubled to around 13 million since 2000. The increase in supplementary health insurance policies for dental treatment was particularly strong: these have more than quadrupled. One of the possible reasons for this development may be continuous restrictions on the range of services covered by statutory health insurance. Private supplementary health insurance policies are primarily purchased by people with higher incomes as well as by individuals with a higher education or by those in good health. Der Anteil der gesetzlich Krankenversicherten, die über eine ergänzende private Zusatzversicherung verfügen, hat sich laut Informationen des SOEP seit 2000 auf rund 13 Millionen mehr als verdoppelt. Besonders stark fiel die Zunahme bei den Zusatzversicherungen für zahnärztliche Leistungen aus: Sie haben sich mehr als vervierfacht. Eine der möglichen Ursachen für diese Entwicklung dürften die wiederholten Einschränkungen des Leistungskatalogs der Gesetzlichen Krankenversicherung sein. Private Zusatzversicherungen werden vor allem von Personen mit höheren Einkommen, sowie von Personen mit einem höheren Bildungsabschluss oder einem guten Gesundheitszustand gehalten.
