Abstract: In this paper, using panel data of 31 developed countries over the period 1996-2011 we attempt to empirically investigate the relationship between CO2 emissions, renewable and non-renewable energy consumption, and economic growth. Our results suggest that energy conservation policy leads to a negative impact on economic growth for developed countries. Additionally, we find that renewable energy consumption contributes to reductions in emissions.
