Abstract:
The results of a comparative study of the steady-state approach and the periodic analysis as applied to the air heater are presented. For the periodic analysis, the meteorological data are represented by a Fourier series. The periodic analysis is carried out by taking half-hourly and hourly data. The difference in the predicted outlet air temperatures by the two approaches is very little. Further hourly data give as good results as the half-hourly data for six harmonics of the Fourier series. It has been observed that the periodic analysis takes slightly less time if the calculations are completed for a large number of set parameters.
