Abstract: We study a network model where the spatial constraint evolves with the network growth and demonstrate that the dynamic constraint can generally cause a non-stationary multiple scaling law in degree distribution. In specific, we show that the different power-law segments emerge successively during the network evolution, from a single power law at the beginning to a double one and to more scaling laws due to the particular model setting. Our findings indicate a plausible geometric origin of the double power-law distribution and predict the non-stationary nature accompanied by its emergence, both of which are supported by our empirical study on the Chinese airline network.
