Abstract: We propose an approach to enhance chaos bandwidth using a cascade intensity-modulated optical injection system. The study focuses on the interaction between the multi-wavelength laser, caused by intensity modulation, and the injected laser to explain the mechanisms underlying the enhancement of chaos bandwidth. Specifically, the influences of injection parameters and intensity-modulated laser characteristics on chaos bandwidth are analyzed in detail. Experimental results show that cascade intensity-modulated optical injection significantly enhances chaos bandwidth through the mode beating effect between modulation side modes and the injected laser oscillation mode. The findings not only clarify the physical mechanism behind chaos bandwidth enhancement but also provide valuable guidance for further enhancing the chaos bandwidth.
