Abstract:
The dissipative pure quartic soliton (DPQS) fiber lasers, based on positive fourth-order dispersion (FOD), have emerged as an effective platform for exploring nonlinear dynamics. Currently, research into the nonlinear dynamics of DPQS has only recently commenced. In this study, by numerically solving the complex Ginzburg-Landau equation (CGLE) incorporating positive FOD, we establish the theoretical framework for understanding DPQS operation. Our findings reveal that increasing the gain saturation energy (Es) induces a distinct pulsation pattern in the temporal evolution of DPQS, closely resembling butterfly wings. Moreover, we demonstrate that further increases Es in lead to the phenomenon of soliton collapse. This work not only provides a significant pathway for advancing our understanding of DPQS but also deepens insights into its fundamental dynamics, while highlighting the universal nature of soliton collapse across novel laser systems.
