Fraction-order sideband generation in a driven magnomechanical system

Chaos, Solitons & Fractals, 2025, vol. 200, issue P2

Abstract: We report a novel mechanism for generating fraction-order sidebands in a driven magnomechanical system, arising from the nonlinear cascading processes between magnetostatic and mechanical modes. Under coherent microwave driving with multiple frequencies, the system exhibits rich dynamics, including fractional-order sidebands at rational fractions of the mechanical frequency, a phenomenon distinct from conventional higher-order sidebands. This effect is tunable via the driving field detuning and intensity, offering a versatile platform for precision metrology and magnonic frequency comb applications. Numerical calculations of both magnonic and phononic dynamics show excellent agreement with this theoretical framework. This work uncovers a novel regime in hybrid magnomechanics that provides fresh perspectives on manipulating multi-wave mixing processes, advancing applications from microwave-to-optical transduction to on-chip signal processing in magnonics.
