Abstract:
We construct exact vortex soliton solutions featuring n bright rings in a nonlinear medium with spatially inhomogeneous nonlinearity and an external potential. The structures of various types of vortex solitons are demonstrated in radial power-law traps and potential wells associated with Gaussian and Super-Gaussian shaped nonlinearities. Superpositions of vortex solitons are analyzed in detail. Of particular interest are the superposition states with 2S-fold rotational symmetry formed from two vortex solitons of opposite topological charges, which have multi-layer bright petal patterns and present a circularly symmetric distribution. Finally, the stability behavior of these vortex solitons is examined through numerical simulations, which indicate that stable vortex states can be supported by spatially inhomogeneous nonlinearity in radial power-law traps and potential wells.
