A method for thermodynamic optimization —II. Application to an absorption heat pump and generalization of the method

Energy, 1992, vol. 17, issue 11, 1033-1048

Abstract: A general formula for the overall efficiency of a system in terms of the efficiencies of its components is used to optimize the flowsheet of an absorption heat pump. We demonstrate that the exergetic efficiency diagram ηe, i vs load (the portion of exergy input λi) gives a general approach for treating any process. It is shown that existing thermodynamic diagrams for process integration are special cases of the ηe, i vs λi diagram.
